Protective Wear : | Safety Shoes, Gloves & Comfortable clothing for practical sessions. |
Pre-Requisites: | Minimum 1 year of experience of Work at Height.
Learner should be medically fit and should be above 18 years old. Site-Hall/Classroom arrangements with Projector and screen. |
Trainers: | Petzl certified PPE trainers. |
Target Participants: | PPE Inspection training is aimed at WAH safety and equipment users who are trained and competent in the use of the equipment which they wish to inspect. |

- General principles of Work at Height, standards/legislation.
- Introduction to PPE and Usage
- Inspection Checklist, Record Keeping and Documentation.
- Equipment's selection
- PPE standards, uses & limitations
- PPE inspection
- Review of systems & processes
- Knowledge of Petzl gears and safety legislation, approved codes of practice and relevant equipment standards.
- Compliance with equipment manufacturer’s guidelines and to inspect their equipment at intervals set out in current legislation.
- Pre-use inspection of items of all fall protection equipment.
Key Deliveries
- Introduction to PPE, General principles, Rsik Assessment, Hazard and Hierarchy of control.
- Potential hazards associated with the use of PPE for protection against falls from height.
- Legislation and current requirements regarding the management of PPE.
- Misuse of PPE.
- Using the necessary tools for tracking and inspecting fall protection PPE by applying the Petzl protocol.
- Knowing how to make good decisions: maintenance, returns under warranty, removal of products from service, etc.
- Principal corrective actions: information to provide for the users and/or their management system.
- Pre-use checks, special inspections, thorough examinations, signs and symptoms, significance of any defects, criteria for removal from service.
- Identify defects and damage which would result in the item being removed from service.
- Inspection Checklist, Record Keeping and Documentation.
- Cleaning, Storage Maintenance & Discarding methods of PPE.

Certification & Validity
- After completing the course, participants will undergo a competency assessment at the end of the day. Those who pass the assessment successfully will receive a Certificate. Please be aware that this Certificate will be valid for three years only. To keep the Certificate valid, participants will need to attend a refresher training after three years to ensure its continuation.
